Shannon (she/her), RN, MSN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She currently treats patients at her private practice, via telehealth, and mobile visits. She strives to provide care that is welcoming to all and leverages technology while maintaining connections to old ways of healing. She is LGBTQ+, BIPOC, veteran, neurodivergent and disability allied.
Shannon was an RN for 10 years before becoming a nurse practitioner in 2019. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, a Bachelor’s in Public Health Education from UNC Greensboro and an Associate's Degree in Nursing from AB Tech.
She has lived in WNC for over 20 years and has spent time living and working in healthcare in the southwest, the Bay Area, Philly and Guatemala. She has had the privilege of experiencing a multitude of settings including FQHCs, nurse-managed health centers, free clinics, rural pop-ups, street medicine collectives and non-profit and corporate hospital systems. She currently delivers continuing education and supports program development for community health workers in Buncombe County.
In addition to wound care, Shannon has a passion for rural healthcare, healthy aging, adolescent medicine, health equity, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, street medicine and LGBTQ+ health. Her practice is integrative and trauma-informed. She engages her family medicine and nursing backgrounds in her approach to advanced wound management and uses evidence-based practice and a multidisciplinary approach to address the root causes of complex wounds.
She is infinitely grateful to all of her teachers - many of whom have been her patients - and the region she calls home. She currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her wife and five children.
We are open for tele-health visits for patients in WNC (Western North Carolina) and across all of North Carolina. As a board-certified family nurse practitioner, I can be your partner in preventative medicine, chronic diseases management, sexual and reproductive health, some dermatology, gender affirming care, sick visits, and other stuff!
Let us know if interpreting services are needed, we are committed to providing care in the preferred language of our patients.
Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with specific questions about my scope. Advanced wound management is a specialty of mine and I love consulting on complex and non- healing wounds including wounds from chemo or radiation, post-surgical infections and diabetic feet.
Soon mobile visits for wounds in the Asheville area will be available!Any labs or imaging will be done at your preferred site and the results sent to me electronically to review. Our EHR, Athena, will be live in a few weeks and include a patient portal and eRx.
Stay tuned for expanded services, mobile visits, community partnership announcements and a clinic location over the next weeks and months. I will have some rock star NPs and other folks working alongside me in the near future.
Accepting Medicare and Medicaid!
We are also working on BCBS,United Healthcare, Optum VA Community Care,Aetna,Cigna and Medcost.
I’ll always have a cash price and will be donating 10% of my billable hours to people who would not otherwise be able to afford care. Email email@example.com for more information.
